Jaques Staunton Tournament Chess Set made from natural and red stained ivory. Housed inside a leather bound box with the words: The “Staunton” Chessmen. on the top. The box itself has had a tough life but its original. The large Jaques Chess set is in superb condition very rare and would make a great addition to any Chess collector.
The two kings are signed Jacques London on the base. On the Kingside the Rooks and Knights are stamped with a King’s crown.
Staunton is the name given to this particular style of chess piece which was designed by Nathaniel Cook and named after Howard Staunton.
