Description

Bronze engraved & gilded miniature Tantalusby Betjemann. With three hobnail cut glass bottles with faceted stoppers. The handle has a raised monogram “LD”engraved with the date 1885. Above the lock mechanism the end of the handle is engraved ” Betjemann’s Patent London 15707″ and the other end of the handle is engraved “The Tantalus “.

The edge of the base has a small plaque which reads: “G.Betjemann & Sons Makers London”

To released the bottles the tantalus must first be unlocked by pressing the key into the sprung lock and turning it clockwise. Once unlocked the lock mechanism can be pressed downwards allowing the handle to be tilted forwards or backwards.
