From our Tea Caddy collection, we are delighted to offer this Georgian Melon Fruit Tea Caddy. The Tea Caddy an exceptional example shaped as a Melon and made from Sycamore with beautiful mottled patination showing colours of moss green and subtle orange. The Tea Caddy surmounted by a curved naturalistic finial. To the front of the Caddy the original Steel escutcheon sits opposing the original steel hinge. When opened the Tea Caddy reveals traces of its original silver foil lining. The Melon Caddy dates to the Georgian Period during the reign of George III circa 1800 and is of Continental origin.

Sycamore, also known as Harewood is a member of the Maple family, found in Europe. It is light yellow in colour and is often a very clean wood, with a straight, fine grain. The wood is often pippy. However, these pips are usually a very similar colour to the rest of the wood making them hardly visible.
