Description

In this collection, we are presented with an impressive seven-piece Boulle Desk Set.

In excellent condition, this desk set was once part of a Royal household formerly belonging to the Earl and Countess of Guilford who resided at The Mansion House in Waldershare Park, Waldershare.

As part of this beautiful Boulle Desk Set, you will find a pair of photo frames, blotters, inkstands, letter scales, a stationery box, a blotter book, a pot and an ink blotter, all of Boulle design.

There is a green baize underside to the blotter and it is unmarked, while one of the two photo frames bears the inscription “Vickery Regent Street” on the reverse side.

The inkstand features two inkwells that are removable and separate liners that are unmarked, which would have been ideal for writing.

A variety of Brass counterweights are supplied with the Letter Scales, which are marked with “Asprey” at the back.

The stationery box has a light green patterned silk lined interior and a Leather bottom marked with “Mappin & Web”. The interior of the box has a fascinating history as it still holds original postcards from “The Mansion House and Mews” as well as “The Kennels” and other pieces of original historical paperwork.
Also included in the set are Scales and a small pot, marked with “Asprey London”.

Luxurious Desk Sets like these were made for prestigious retail establishments such as Asprey, thereby the combination of makers and retailers associated with this wonderful set.

With this charming Boulle Desk Set, you will find an elegant tasselled key that operates a fully functional lock.
