Description

Exquisite Coromandel Writing boxwith beautiful engraved brass and abalone pearl border running around the top edge of the box, the intricate initial plate has a tinge of pink abalone shell. The mother of pearl is inscribed with the name E. Edmondson The interior of this exquisite writing slope features a deep burgundy velvet tooled writing surface with a leather gold tooled border. The top half of it lifts to reveal a large storage space, with a cross banded ribbon backing. The compartment also houses three hidden drawers. To access these the right hand inkwell must be removed and the base of it compartment pressed. this will cause the false backing to spring forward revealing the three ribbon handled drawers.

The top of the box features two original brass screw top inkwells, two lidded compartments, a pen tray and several card / stationery compartments

This writing box comes with a fully working lock and tasselled key.
