Antique Tea Chest veneered in stunning figured Pollard Oak with ornate brass straps, studs and corner brackets. With an engraved shield-shaped escutcheon and scroll, matched on the front of the box by the escutcheon.
Lifting the lid reveals more rich splendour with a Satinwood-lined interior and Coromandel facings that frame the two removable Satinwood Tea Caddies within the Tea Chest, these have domed tops and wooden hinges. Each caddy has a matching brass shield-shaped initial plate, each one beautifully engraved with the letters “G” and “B” for Green and Black Tea. Lifting the lids on these wonderful tea caddies reveals their original foil linings pretty much intact which helped to keep the tea fresh. Removing each tea caddy and placing back in the tea chest it drops slowly with the weight of the piece pushing the air from out of its void.

This wonderful Victorian Tea Chest has a fully working lock and tasselled key.
